At just 16 years old, Derek moved from Bordertown to Kingston to start his apprenticeship at Kingston Kabinets.  As a third year apprentice Derek was granted the opportunity to purchase the business from his mentor.  Not one to shy away from a challenge, he jumped at the chance.  With his Dad on board giving a helping hand, and the support and knowledge from his predecessor, Derek forged ahead.

Not one to do things by half, Derek welcomed not only a new business but embraced a new baby, and a wife in a whirlwind first twelve months, then added to the family with a second child soon after.  Derek, alongside his new wife Drigita, navigated the complexities of family and business, shaping Kingston Kabinets into what it is today.

Their joint efforts propelled the company's growth, marked by a commitment to continual improvement. Investments in employee development, cutting-edge equipment, and the establishment of an on-site showroom underscore their dedication to enhancing the client experience.

The showroom, Drigita offers clients hands-on product samples and design ideas, while Derek's expertise in the workshop brings these ideas to life.  Along with their dedicated team, they prioritise ensuring a seamless, exciting and stress-free journey for every client.  Collaborating with local builders, private clientele and government contracts to provide end-to-end solutions for
custom-made cabinetry.
